Our dance program is designed to reflect the needs of today's professional dance world. Rooted in classical and modern traditions, our dance program offers exposure to a variety of dance forms to optimize, proficiency, versatility, and creativity.
Students spend their days focused on fundamentals of Acting while being exposed to a multidisciplinary approach to training for the stage, film, television, and musical theatre.
Students receive instruction to develop general musicianship, technique, and performance strategies, and musical style. Classes are designed to address various topics pertinent to developing musicians.
Students explore a variety of musical styles, ranging from classical art song to opera and musical theater, through classes in chorus, vocal technique, music theory, and private voice.
Our Instrumental Music program enables students to develop and refine their technical skills and interpretive abilities through the study of performance and significant works. Instruments include: Woodwind, Guitar, Brass, and Drum.
Visual Arts include the traditional fine arts such as drawing, painting, and photography. Students will learn to understand and implement the material, technique and form.
Reading and Math
Research has shown during summer time, learning decreases. A common finding is on average, students score lower on standardized testing at the end of the summer than they do at the beginning of the summer. Students estimated loss in Mathematics are 2.6 months of grade level equivalency loss. Students estimated loss in Reading varies. Low income students generally lose about 2 months of reading achievement. Middle income students experience slight gains in reading proficiency. Excellence Academy includes both during the summer months as well as after school hours reading and math enrichment, where all students enrolled are required to take (according to their grade level) to ensure continued EXCELLENCE in both academics, as well as Performing Arts.
